Building Kidz provides hands-on support to franchise owners from the day you sign your agreement through every year you operate. Our model is built around the idea that strong franchisor support produces strong franchisee outcomes. The sections below explain exactly what kind of help you receive, when you receive it, and who delivers it.

Pre-Opening Training Program

Every new franchise owner completes a structured pre-opening training program before the school opens its doors. The program runs in two phases. The first phase happens at our headquarters in Foster City, California, and covers classroom-based instruction. You will spend time learning the Building Kidz curriculum framework, our daily schedule structure, age-group teaching methods, our performing arts integration, and the operations playbook. This phase usually lasts one full week.

The second phase takes place at an existing Building Kidz school, where you and your incoming director shadow current staff. You sit in on real classes, watch how transitions are handled, learn how parent communications work in practice, and see how our schools handle daily admin tasks. This phase is one to two weeks. Together, both phases provide 80 to 120 hours of structured instruction before you open.

Site Selection and Real Estate Support

While the obligation to find a site belongs with the Franchisee, our real estate team is also looking for locations and helps you qualify locations. We provide site selection criteria covering minimum square footage, parking requirements, classroom layout needs, outdoor play space, zoning rules, and visibility factors. The team also reviews proposed sites with you, comments on lease terms, and connects you with brokers who have worked with Building Kidz schools before.  A full 3 year proforma is prepared by our team for you to evaluate the opportunity in its entirety.

Once you have a signed letter of intent, our design team produces a school floor plan that meets state licensing requirements and our brand standards. You receive vendor lists for furniture, curriculum supplies, classroom equipment, and outdoor play structures. This shortens the build-out timeline and avoids costly mistakes that first-time school owners often make.

Curriculum and Program Materials

You receive the full Building Kidz curriculum at no extra cost as part of your franchise package. The curriculum covers infants, toddlers, preschool, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten readiness, and after-school programs. Lesson plans are written by our curriculum team, updated periodically, and delivered through our online portal so your teachers always work from the current version.

The performing arts content includes music, dance, drama, and visual arts. These pieces are integrated into the daily schedule, not treated as separate add-ons. You also receive our enrichment program materials, which cover STEM activities, reading readiness, and a science-themed weekly curriculum. Curriculum updates roll out automatically as part of your ongoing royalty payment.

Marketing and Enrollment Support

Marketing support runs across three areas: brand assets, local launch campaigns, and ongoing enrollment marketing. For brand assets, you get logo files, signage templates, brochure designs, classroom flyers, and a branded website page for your school location. All assets are provided in print-ready and digital-ready formats.

For your school launch, the marketing team builds a 90-day local launch campaign that runs from 60 days before opening through 30 days after. The campaign includes Google Business Profile setup, Facebook and Instagram launch posts, community outreach plans, grand opening event materials, and a paid advertising plan with budget recommendations.

For ongoing enrollment, you receive monthly marketing content templates, seasonal campaign ideas, parent referral program materials, and access to our review management system. The brand fund, funded by all franchise owners, also runs national brand-building campaigns that lift awareness of Building Kidz across the United States.

Technology Systems

Building Kidz franchise owners use a set of technology systems that handle the daily work of running a preschool. The student information system tracks enrollment, attendance, billing, and parent communication. The curriculum portal stores all lesson plans, daily schedules, and teacher training videos. The reporting dashboard shows you weekly numbers on enrollment, revenue, payroll percentage, and waitlist trends.

Parent-facing technology includes a mobile app where parents can see daily reports, photos from class, billing statements, and school announcements. The franchisor handles the setup, training, and ongoing software costs for Building Kidz Connect and the CRM, which is covered in the monthly Technology Fee of $360.

Field Operations Support

After your school opens, a dedicated field support manager checks in with you on a regular schedule. During year one, expect weekly check-in calls during the first 90 days and then monthly calls for the rest of the year. Your field support manager also visits your school in person at least once during your first 12 months.

After year one, contact moves to monthly calls and quarterly visits. Your field manager helps you read your numbers, troubleshoot operational problems, plan staffing changes, and adapt to local market shifts. The field team is your direct line for anything that does not have an obvious answer in the operations playbook.

Hiring and Staff Training Support

Hiring the right director and lead teachers is the single biggest factor in school performance. Our team helps with this directly. You receive job description templates, interview scripts, scoring rubrics for candidate evaluation, and a hiring playbook for each role. We also share posting strategies for hiring sites where preschool talent is active.

Once you hire your team, every new staff member completes our online onboarding course before they touch a classroom. The course covers child safety, classroom management, age-appropriate teaching methods, communication with parents, and the daily Building Kidz schedule. Ongoing teacher development content is added to the portal each quarter.

Compliance and Licensing Help

Each state has its own childcare licensing rules. Our compliance team gives you a state-specific checklist for licensing, helps you prepare for state inspections, and reviews your operating procedures against your local licensing code. Although you are responsible for maintaining your license, you do not have to figure out the process alone.

Vendor and Supplier Relationships

Building Kidz has negotiated agreements with national vendors for classroom supplies, furniture, food service providers, insurance carriers, payroll providers, and play structure suppliers. As a franchise owner, you get access to these accounts at preferred pricing. This often saves money compared to sourcing items independently as a single-location operator.

Ongoing Curriculum and Operations Updates

Curriculum, operations procedures, and brand standards are updated periodically. You receive these updates directly from the franchisor at no extra cost. Major updates are previewed at the conference and rolled out in stages so you have time to train your team.

What You Are Responsible For

Building Kidz provides the systems, training, and ongoing support. You are responsible for daily operations, hiring and managing your local team, building enrollment in your community, paying your royalty and brand fund contributions, and following the operations playbook. The model works best when both sides do their part.
